Machrie Bay Golf Course has been in existence since 1900. A charming and challenging 9 hole course beside the sea, it is highly regarded on the Island. This is a family course now run by the Estate with the emphasis on enjoyment. The course has fantastic views over the Kilbrannan Sound towards the Kintyre Peninsula. The course is fairly flat, but includes plenty of interest for players of all abilities. There is a small putting green, and both trolleys and clubs can be hired if required.
Dogs are also allowed to join in the fun so long as they don't steal your opponents golf ball!
There are also 6 other golf courses on the island.
During the summer season a tearoom provides lunches, light snacks and drinks throughout the day and has an indoor and outdoor seating area.
In addition to the golf course there is a tennis court with racket hire from the tearoom.
Most of the time it is unnecessary to book and you can just turn up and play. Tickets can be obtained from the tearoom when it is open, or the greenkeeper / honesty box when the tearoom is closed.
